New Trustees Needed: Learn how to apply

The Southeast Steuben County Library is seeking additional trustees for the Library Board.

Trustees must possess a strong and genuine belief in public libraries and their mission in the community as centers of information, recreation, culture and lifelong education. A candidate must be willing to devote appropriate time and effort to carrying out the duties and responsibilities of trusteeship.

These duties include regular attendance at Board meetings, committee service and activities, trustee training, ongoing advocacy on behalf of the Library and learning about the Library and the social, legal, and political context in which it exists.

To fill the four vacancies, the nominating committee will begin interviewing interested candidates in January. Interested applicants must live within the Corning – Painted Post Area School District boundaries.  Additionally, one trustee must reside in the Town of Campbell and one must reside in the Town of Lindley.  All applicants should possess a current library card and must be at least 18 years of age.

Applications for consideration and further information may be obtained here or by stopping at the circulation desk in the library at 300 Nasser Civic Center Plaza, Ste 101, Corning, NY, 14830.
