by Hope Jahren will be reviewed by Kristine Taylor.

Named one of TIME magazine’s “100 Most Influential People,” and Entertainment Weekly Best Book of 2016 So Far, Lab Girl is an illuminating debut memoir of a woman in science; a moving portrait of a longtime friendship; and a stunningly fresh look at plants that will forever change how you see the natural world.

Kristine Taylor has a BA from Russell Sage College in Biology and Chemistry and her MS in Education from SUNY Albany. Taylor has taught in the area for many years. Currently, she teaches Honors Living Environment and biology class at Corning-Painted Post High School and is in the Cornell Institute for Biology Teachers working lab development, lectures and training at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY) and Corning Community College (Corning, NY). Taylor is also the William E. Severn Elementary School PTA President.

Each year in January and February, the Friends of the Southeast Steuben County Library present a lunchtime series of book talks featuring local speakers reviewing notable new works of fiction and nonfiction. Book talks are held on Wednesdays at the Southeast Steuben County Library’s Laura Beer Community Room from 12:10 -1 p.m. The talks are open to the general public and free of charge. Beverages are provided and attendees are invited to bring a bagged lunch.
