An intimate portrait of Louisa Catherine Adams, the wife of John Quincy Adams, who witnessed firsthand the greatest transformations of her time.

Cathy Patterson has lived in Corning, NY for 33 years. Though a native of Virginia, she consider Corning her home now. Patterson has her Bachelor’s in Social Studies Education from Virginia Tech and a Master’s degree in Education from Mansfield. She has taught in Pennsylvania and for the last 25 years in the Corning-Painted Post School District. She loves reading, walking and cooking. Patterson is the proud parent of two sons who enjoy many happy hours at the library!

Each year in January and February, the Friends of the Southeast Steuben County Library present a lunchtime series of book talks featuring local speakers reviewing notable new works of fiction and nonfiction. Book talks are held on Wednesdays at the Southeast Steuben County Library’s Laura Beer Community Room from 12:10 -1 p.m. The talks are open to the general public and free of charge. Beverages are provided and attendees are invited to bring a bagged lunch.
