Books Sandwiched In

Each year in January and February, the Friends of the Southeast Steuben County Library present a lunchtime series of book talks featuring local speakers reviewing notable new works of fiction and nonfiction. Book talks are held on Wednesdays at the First Congregational Church (171 W. Pulteney St. in Corning) from 12:10 -1 pm. The talks are open to the general public and free of charge. Beverages are provided and attendees are invited to bring a bagged lunch.

Jan. 3 – Maryalice Little will review Waking the Spirit by Andrew Schulman

Jan. 10 – Ed Dougherty will review News of the World by Paulette Jiles

Jan. 17 – Randi Hewitt will review Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

Jan. 24 – Troy Preston will review Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance

Jan. 31 – Christine Atkins & Erin Wilburn will review Ready Player One by Ernest Cline as a part of the Corning Community College’s One Book, One College, One Community program.

Feb. 7Al Franken, Giant of the Senate by Al Franken will be reviewed by Bill Boland.
